Here is a good article I came across regarding videogmes and how the Nintendo Wii is helping nursing home residents have a good time.  http://ezinearticles.com/?id=2333820

As video games continue to penetrate into the mainstream they are no longer perceived as the niche pastime of children, fan boys, social misfits, and basement dwellers. The huge success of the Nintendo Wii has introduced an audience to games that would never have considered picking up a controller a few years ago. This can be attributed to the Wii's unique control interface which allows users to control on screen movement with a wireless remote or more recently Wii Fit, which allows players to participate in several games using a board that they stand on that detects their movements.

An unexpected benefit of this sea change is the positive impact this is having on the disabled and seniors. The controls allow players to take part in activities that they are no longer able to perform comfortably in public. For example, a multiple sclerosis patient recently wrote that she is able to use the Wii to have bowling tournaments with friends and family. Due to her condition she has not been able to bowl for years but the Wii let's her once again participate in one of her favorite activities. She also feels that the increased activity helped her pass her first balance test during a recent doctor visit.

Nursing homes across the country are implementing "Wii therapy". These are Wii tournaments that are interactive, fun, and effective in assisting residents with social interaction, mobility, and exercise. Doctors and therapists say the Nintendo Wii is a huge hit with senior citizens by helping with motor skills and mental acuteness. Again, bowling appears to be the biggest hit with most nursing home residents.

The Wii is also being used in treating patients recovering from stroke, broken bones, combat injuries and surgery. The different Wii games require body movements similar to traditional therapy exercises. It allows people who are confined to a wheelchair the ability to play sports such as baseball again. It's also great in improving a person's range of motion. It is evident from these examples that the Wii has garnered an unexpected audience.

It is very easy to take advantage of people whose ability to care for themselves is compromised to some degree, which is why it is so important to be conscious of what to look for when nursing home abuse is suspected.

It has been reported that nursing home authority do not take care of the patients in proper way. They neglect the age old person, so you must be well-aware about the behavior about the services.
