I have to agree with 'Daybreakventure' Assisted Living nursing homes really are great, they can be trsuted and are very respectful. My mother has been staying at one of there homes for just over 2 years now and is very happy, no problems at all.

Thanks.

Edward

I didn't have alot of time when I put my mom in a nursing home so I put her in one that was close to me.  I sometimes wonder if I should have spent more time researching.  I've visited a few other nursing homes to compare after the fact and I really didn't see that much of a difference.  My mom seems to be attached now to some of the residents so I don't plan on moving her.

There are certain problems with nursing home and we should also give light on them. Abusing is like a mental harassment. In nursing home elders are away from their family, they don't have any support there. The biggest thing is that they are not able to fight against them because they are physically weak.

If you're in southern California and in the San Gabriel Valley area, I would highly recommend Mission Care Center. There are so many great things I have to say about this facility. First of all, the place is just beautiful! They've deviated from the conventional all white walls that most nursing homes and hospitals just love. When you walk in, it is just extremely warm and inviting. Next, you'd probably notice the smell, which is atypical of a nursing home, and they really strive to make the place pristine and smelling great. Most importantly, the staff is one to be commended for. Never have I met a group of passionate and caring nurses who know exactly what they are doing. From time to time, I'll see a head pop into my room and a question of whether or not I'm alright or need anything at all. I believe that is just common courtesy in nursing homes and hospitals that I just sadly do not see a lot of in my years of experience in different facilities. I feel that Mission Care is a Godsend, and am so blessed to have ended up in this facility. I would highly recommend those looking for a skilled nursing facility or nursing home to give this place a try. It never hurts to take a quick tour, but I guarantee that you will not be disappointed with this place. In fact, I am almost 100% positive that you will fall in love with this facility and the staff that works within it.

I have found the following resource online (link below), which is free to use and shows all nursing homes on a Google map, which is useful for determining how many nursing homes are in close proximity to where you live.  I hope it helps - it also has some advice pages and a useful checklist to fill in when the time comes to view a nursing home.
